upload to server

Remember this is a 1.44Mb floppy disk router, space is limited.

Postby MrWho » Mon Apr 29, 2002 7:00 am

I know space is scarce, but it'd be great if we had any way of remotely uploading files to the /www folder.
What I love about Freesco is the ability to install it and then disconnect everything except for the power cord and network cables and run everything remotely... if it wasn't for the file updating.
Can it be done?  :)

If you have a hdd install, then you can install an FTP package, and use that to transfer files. Currabubula has a TCP file transfer program, but I'm not sure if he plans to implement a FREESCO version, but, if he did, it would be nice (hint hint).

Maybe you'll want to move this thread to the "General Discussion" Forum then, but what are the minimum/recommended specs for running Samba? Would my DX4/100 12MbRAM 200HD cut the deal?

Currabubula has a file transfer program for freesco and the www... in fact he has been working on it for 2 days... it does not require any additional software on the router.
It will only access the www dir and down, and can create dirs etc. Just like ws_FTP but using telnet instead :)
ATM it is uploading html or text pages just fine.. I am now incorporating the upload of binaries... I will advise when it is stable enough for release dudes ;)

Nice one!

Its just what newbies/floppy users need to get a simple sire up and running. I can see that uploading images might be a problem (no binary mode in telnet?).

zackary! so each bin needs to be chopped up , transfer packet by packet then reassembled. Workin on it.. biggest problem is knowing which packet freesco has responded to so there may be a limit on file size here. We'll see. ;)

I can upload a file to any dir which may prove useful for config stuff later, but to avoid newbie problems I have locked it to www/....

I like seeing all this software for pc, but my neighboor only has mac's... Why not write some mac software for Freesco. And if you dont like writing espesially for mac, why not unix.. after all mac osx is based on unix.
Well anyways. mac software would be great.

There is a command called snarf on the router that can download files from both www and ftp.
so you can setup a simple ftpserver on your workstation and then use snarf from the router to transver one file at the time to the router. i actually have a webpage on my router floppy with images ;)
